Holly Woods Knows How to “Live it Up”

If the name Holly Woods sounds familiar to you, it’s not surprising.  As the compelling front woman of the Canadian hard rock band ‘Toronto’, she conquered air waves in the late ‘70’s and early ‘80’s with seven Top 40 hits, including “Your Daddy Don’t Know”. When ‘Toronto’ disbanded in 1985 with four gold and platinum albums to their credit, Holly and writing partner/bandmate Scott Kreyer set out together and recorded new tracks with producer Sonny Limbo. Unfortunately, Limbo’s sudden death caused the music to be laid to rest along with him.  Now, more than two decades later, the masters have been revived thanks to Cyclone Records. Yes, Holly Woods is back, quite possibly better than ever with a powerhouse performance on eight rock and blues tracks that comprise “Live it Up”. For those old enough to remember the distinctive sound of ‘Toronto’, you will be transported back in time.  It’s pure 80’s power rock with a dynamic voice that commands attention.  Holly recently told me, “It is very representative of the music I have always loved to write, and the songs are all written from experiences I had along my rock and roll way.”  Track #4 is titled “Win” – very fitting, as this CD is a definite “Win” for Holly.
