Stop Drop N Skank

The Stop Drop N Skank were really honored to perform and participate in the Food Drive Event organized by Toronto Exclusive Magazine. For them, it is a great privilege and it is important to give back something to the community. It’s necessary to step back once in awhile and to think that not everyone is lucky. They were happy that they can help out those people in need through their music. SDS are also grateful to have great and supportive families.

They’ve done several charity events – various food drives and shows such as the “Rock for Darfur” at the Drake Underground, and “Punk for Cancer” at the Dungeon in Oshawa. They will be doing another Christmas Food Drive Event on December 14th in Toronto at the Adrift Skatepark.

Stop Drop N Skank call themselves “ska” but they are very untraditional. They mix in all sorts of genres including hip-hop, latin, and jazz sounds. They were proud of their energetic performance and their music was well-liked by kids who came from different backgrounds.

Their band started off from three high school friends. Two of their horn players were brought up from a Jewish family. The third, Stacey, was already known in the ska community as a promoter and a member of a former Toronto band One Size Fits Most. There are now 7 members in the band.

SDS will be performing in various towns around Ontario this month. They are especially excited for the December 14th event where they will be playing with The Knockouts, Keepin' 6, and others. They also expect to release their debut album early in 2008, and they are all excited about that.
