Ryan:
I’ve
just had the wonderful
opportunity to join
this amazing band. With that
being said,
I think I’ve settled in quite nicely; and quickly for that
matter. I’d have to humbly say I’ve
added a new layer
that will really
help
out in the long run.
Our chemistry is
great. We’ve been a
5 piece
for a very,
very short time, but with our
determination,
I know we’ll
be unstoppable.
Already we’ve seen huge success in the form of friends
and fans. With new
songs on the way, more experience,
and perhaps an EP
in the future, you
can count your lucky stars that The Good Rats Radio
will be a force to be reckon with.

INTERVIEW
WITH THE GOOD RATS RADIO
myspace.com/thegoodratsska
Toronto Exclusive Magazine:
What has the band being doing lately?
The Good Rats Radio-Remy:
Well, lately we've
tryin to getting all our shit together, having started in march we're
still pretty fresh. We're still lookin for new instruments all the
time, anything to make us better. At the same time, playin as many
shows as we can get whether its in toronto or brampton, burlington,
where ever. Just trying to get our name out there being a pretty
new band on the scene, you know, hustlin!
Toronto Exclusive Magazine:
Who chose that cool name for the band?
The Good Rats Radio-James:
haha well we all
ended up agreeing on it, but pretty much this is how it went.. we
needed a name, so one day i took a look at every track name in my
itunes library, which is of over 4 thousand songs and picked out
whatever sounded cool. With that list, we voted for "The Good Rats"
which is a song by the Dropkick Murphys. We went with that name for a
while, but then we got the attention of some old-ass band from the
states. They message us on myspace asking us to change our name, cause
theyd had it copywritten or somethin. Turns out these guys have opened
for ozzy and aerosmith, and are in the rock n roll hall of fame. Thats
cool though, we slapped radio on the end of our name and are now
playing in bigger bars then they are currently playing in.
Toronto Exclusive Magazine:
What separates your music from what we are hearing today?
The Good Rats Radio-Ian:
First we all come
form very different influences. This definitely comes through into our
music. We try to combine all these aspects of music, with the unifying
factor being ska, into our own ska creation. I think this is what
separates us form the rest. We aren’t held down by rigid
constraints, and we aren’t afraid to try new styles and sounds.
Wer'e jus having fun playing our music.
Toronto Exclusive Magazine:
What major steps are you taking for next year?
The Good Rats Radio-Kevin:
We'll be working
on writing some new fresh tracks, doing some gigs all around the GTA,
and definitely get some tracks recorded for an EP to sell. After
recently gaining a new member in the band, we've got tons of ideas for
some new songs and can make our old ones even better.
