The Only Cure
by Keith Fraser (www.myspace.com/drumbangboom)

Twelve34's new CD, The Only Cure, has found a long lost remedy for the dead-eared modern music fan. From the first blast of cymbals and raw guitar in, ‘Let It Save You’, the hammer, anvil, and stirrup buffet the ear drum to awaken a once thought misplaced treasure: true rock and roll.

No new babes in arms, the five man band has shown musical mastery in this latest CD. Freewheeling and commanding, the band demonstrates their remarkable skill and style in ’Firecracker’, a get-up-and-funk cut that makes you want to be ‘way up high’ and flying away. In ‘Pleasure’, the outstanding chops of Jasen Colson on drums lock in with the amazing bass playing of Jason St-Cry to produce a head bopping, let’s hear it again blast of a rock tune.

Eric St-Cyr’s hard-rock architecture is exhilarating in his details as he blasts in the title track 'The Only Cure'. His guitar playing fills the iPod buds with a feel of pop and classic rock in their riffs, hooks and drive. ‘Transmission’ brings the whole band together and is totally fearless and expert in its’ execution. Vocals, musicianship and talent are all showcased in this well produced and balanced CD. In 'The Only Cure' you’ll find that twelve34 knows more then just the hard edge of rock. ‘Melanie’ opens up with the warmth and beauty of acoustic guitars and continues into a classic rock love song with wonderful background vocals by Mandee Woods. Mandee echo's the lyrics back to cap off fantastic dynamics that adds a touch of class that only a lady can bring to a song.

Twelve34 has taken a unique step in the lost art of interesting cover designs. A comical but well executed cover leaves the CD buyer yearning for the good old days of big LP covers. There was time when master designers and illustrators made art forms of covers - not PhotoShop clipart - and try and past it off as something special. The Only Cure cover captures those great visuals again.
Twelve34 - The Only Cure, is a collection of 11 tracks that completely takes you out of your element and transports your imagination to some place completely new - in a true rock fashion. It’s a journey that you simply accept and enjoy.  This type of CD is in short supply, mainly because it takes a certain sort of talent to produce. The kind of musicians in twelve34 often fly under the radar. In the main stream of cookie cutter groups twelve34 hits the target with each cut. A person looking for that ‘fix’ of what rock and roll should be needs only to listen to this CD to be satisfied.
