Aria Events Presents:

Urban Exotic Fashiontainment

By: Lisa Sterling

The word “urban”, is not enough to describe the essence of the Urban Exotic Fashiontainment fashion show which was held late September.  With its high caliber of guests in attendance and borderline high fashion apparel, the show was a display of sheer urban class.

Three very talented local designers’ lines were showcased:  Karamea by Michelle Turpin, Passenger Pigeon by Heather Schibli and Wendy Traas, and Fieerce by Louise Doan. Doan’s was a funky and seemingly hip-hop inspired line with real edge; the theme seemed to be legs, legs and more legs! One model nick named Chinney, proudly strutted her “stuff” in a Fieercely short silk dress which glimmered under lights and pranced all over her very big booty!

However, it was the belly dancers, The Sultanettes of Hannan’s Bellydance Studio that brought true exotic flavor to the show as they hypnotized guests with their jiggles, whining and grinds to the beat of the music.  They sported bright purple skirts with matching bell sleeved wrap tops while the charms on their bottoms chimed together in inspiring rhythms that left guests thirsty for more.

Guests at the show were encouraged to donate to One Child, an organization which aims to help illiterate and poverty stricken Sir Lankan children enslaved by the sex trade. Many thanks to Dr. Lancelot Brown (www.drlbrown.com) and other sponsors, as well as the show’s coordinator Neeya Jacob, and all other contributors for helping to produce great Fashiontainment!
